Colonel Marcus M. Spiegel
Colonel Marcus M. Spiegel gave his life to preserve the United States and free the slaves. He was killed during the Red River Campaign near Snaggy Point Louisiana and was buried by his fellow soldiers on May 4, 1864 in an unmarked grave on the bank of the Red River in Louisiana.
